CSK back to winning ways ! CSK vs RCB. Apr 15 2010.
CSK recovered from the Valthaty treat and posted two precious points on the table. The home team made a single change for the duel against the Royal Challengers from Bangalore. Michael Hussey and Doug Bollinger were relieved off their duties for the national team and joined the team. The former is riding on a century on the final match and the latter is coming after scalping many victims in the wake of their tour of Bangladesh. Their thick vein of form will be conducive for their franchise. CSK made the only change in the form of Mike Hussey visibly to provide more thrust to the batting. Dhoni won a good toss and elected to bat first. MAC stadium witnessed rivulutes of fans flowing in and vociferously chanting for their home team.
Emphasising that the Captain’s decision was perfect , Murli Vijay and Mike Hussey launched into attacking mode right from the word go. The former was more venomous among the two and the latter picked his spot with precision whenever a bad ball was thrown at him. Vijay took the aerial route a couple of times and made the Bowling attack of the RCB look toothless. Hussey escaped through the once impenitrable hands of Mohd. Kaif at third man when his individual score read a single digit. Murli Vijay struck a six right down the ground off Ninan and in an attempt to redo he ended up safely in the hands of Zaheer Khan at mid off. It was Raina’s turn to join Hussey. He too like Vijay was in a hurry to send the ball beyond the ropes and successfully did it a few times. The lesser known Ninan who claimed the wicket of Murli Vijay striked again to sent back Raina. Raina too, akin to Murli Vijay sacrificed his wicket in a rush of blood moment. Dhoni walked in and the crowd witnessed hard hittings by the Indian Captain. There was a battle within the battle against Zaheer Khan and M.S.Dhoni. The former drew the first blood when the latter came back to complete his second spell. Dhoni hammered the ball evoking memories of the Helicopter Shot and the first ball travels the distance for a Six. Second ball too was treated with utter disdain and fetches four runs. Nevertheless Zaheer had the last laugh when MS nicked a slow ball and eventually ending up in AB’s hands. Hussey riding on the drop catch constructed the innings from one end. He too struck one big six and followed it up with singles to rotate the strike effectively. Hussey again was dropped by Asad pathan at backward square leg off Van Der merver. With luck hugging Michael Hussey , he rode on it and remained unconquered on 83. CSK had a competitive score of 183 but given the nature of the matches so far it was highly uncertain whether this total is defendable.
The Royal Challengers boasted a healthy batting line up with the likes of Dilshan, AB Devilliers, Virat Kohli and Pujara. Sparing Devilliers none of them threatend to pull off a coup. Dishan was tamed by Morkel. Kohli was done in by Jakati and Pujara succumbed to Randiv. They lost wickets in regular intervals and the asking rate was always a mountain to climb. By the time Van Der Wath hammered some shots the damage was beyond repair.
Man Of the Match was declared as Mike Hussey. Waiting for CSK’s duel against the resilient KTK in Kochi. !!!!
